 Pup Chow 

Makes 30 Servings

This party mix is completely customizable to any party theme. Just choose flavors and colors that compliment your theme.
 

Ingredients-

  • 8 cups of chocolate covered cereal mix (Recipe below) - This will need 8 cups of Rice Chex.

  • 3 different boxes of your favorite cereal (Approximately 10 ounces each)

  • White Chocolate Almond bark 

  • Powdered Sugar

Basic steps for Chocolate Covered-

  • Break the almond bark into squares

  • Place the almond bark chocolate into a microwave safe bowl (2 squares of chocolate per 2 cups of cereal.)

  • Microwave for 30 seconds stir halfway through to prevent the chocolate from burning.

  • In two cup increments, pour 2 cups of plain Rice Chex cereal into a clean bowl. Carefully stir in the melted chocolate.

  • Once cereal is evenly coated pour the cereal onto parchment paper to let it dry. Do this for all 8 cups.

  • Once all cereal is dry sprinkle with powdered sugar and toss with a spatula.

  • Add chocolate covered cereal and the three other chosen cereals in large food safe bag.

  • Shake gently.

  • Separate into one cup servings if desire.

 

*tips and tricks*

-Try incorporating a variety of flavors that compliment one another. Such as chocolate, peanut butter, and honey.

-Adding dried fruits such as mango or strawberries to the Chex mix can add additional sweetness.

DIY Dog Treats

Makes 32 Dog treats

Ingredients-

  • 1 cup Pumpkin Puree

  • ¼ cup p-nut butter

  • 2 tbs yogurt

  • ¼ cup shredded carrot

  • 2/12 Cups Oats plus 1/2 cup for rolling

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • ¼ tsp ground ginger

 

Basic steps-​

  • Mix all ingredients together in a stand mixer or with your hands if you're brave.

  • Use a cookie scoop to shape into even sized balls.

  • Roll the balls in oats to coat. 

  • Store in an egg carton in your fridge or place between parchment paper in a freezer safe container.

  • These freeze well for 2 months or you can refrigerate up to a week.

Chipboard Letter Wall Hanging

Supplies-

  • Chip board letters

  • Ribbon

  • Paint brush

  • White paint

  • Glue

  • Hot glue gun

  • Glitter

  • E-6000

  • Wax Paper

 

Basic steps-​

  • Start by laying all your chip board letters out on wax paper to protect your surfaces.

  • Apply an even layer of white craft paint.

  • Once the white paint has dried, using a clean paint brush apply a coat of school glue or Modge Podge.

  • Working quickly sprinkle the glitter over the entire letter.

  • Once the glitter glue has dried, take the ribbon and arrange the chipboard letters in the order you decide. (Leave about 6 inches of ribbon on either side for easy hanging.)

  • Once you have your desired layout, apply hot glue to the back of the chip board letters to secure to ribbon. (if the letters are a bit heavy on the ribbon add E-6000 once the hot glue has dried to add reinforcement to ensure the letters don’t fall off.)

Flag Style Bunting

Supplies-

  • Ribbon

  • Clip art of dogs (or your party theme)

  • Scissors

  • Glue stick

  • Spray paint

  • Printer paper or cardstock

 

Basic steps-​

  • Lay out the flag styled bunting on a tarp if spray painting. You can also use craft paint.

  • Start by lightly spraying the flags with a thin layer of spray paint

  • Let it dry for about 15 minutes, add an extra layer of paint if needed.

  • Print out pictures for the theme of the party

  • Start by cutting out the pictures (if you want to leave some of the excess paper on the cut out it can add some extra character to the bunting.)

  • Apply a thin layer of glue or modge to the cut out and place on the flag.

  • Once glue is dried, take the ribbon and weave ribbon in and out of the pre-punched holes.

Dog Rescue R Us is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization dedicated to saving the abandoned, neglected

and abused dogs in West Texas. Dog Rescue R Us aims to reduce the number of abandoned, neglected

and abused dogs in the Permian Basin. They make every effort to locate the owners of any dog that has

been found as a stray. Upon intake, all dogs are started on vaccinations. They do this to help combat the

devastating illnesses that afflict unvaccinated dogs and puppies. After the dog is fully vetted, they make

arrangements to either transport dogs/puppies to out of state rescues or adopt out at our monthly

adoption events.

Who knew you could create dog treats that look just like fancy sugar cookies? And feed them to your

camera operator? We think Happy Paws did an outstanding job creating the beautiful trophy shaped

cookies we had made for our pageant participants. And you know us Gen X’ers. We think everyone

deserves a trophy. Hahaha. Also they made a Chewbacca themed dog cake that were obsessed with.
